Molly and Justin Levy didn’t fall in love at first sight. It started with a Facebook message—one full of emoticons.
It was 2012. Molly had just been hired as a Bonim Unit Head at Camp Coleman when Justin, already a seasoned staff member, reached out online to offer help before the summer. It was thoughtful… but, as Molly puts it, “he used way too many emoticons.” She didn’t think much of it at the time.
But when she arrived at camp, Justin was exactly who he’d said he was: kind, helpful, steady. The kind of person you leaned on when things got hectic. That first summer, they built a strong friendship.
By 2013, they were both back—Molly again with Bonim, and Justin as a unit head. One night, the two of them were scheduled together for Senior OD, a supervisory shift where staff check on bunks around camp after hours. But because of the weather, they had to switch from the usual golf cart to a Mini Cooper—which, according to Justin, is basically just a bigger golf cart. However, with the windows closed, and some Ben Folds playing, Justin knew if he was going to tell her he liked her, this would be the moment.
He knew if he said the word “so” he would have to keep talking and because he’s a straight shooter, he just went for it. He said, “so it’s ok if you don’t, but I want you to know that I like you.” Molly said “oh, I like you too”, but for Justin, knowing all he knew about Molly and how sweet she is, if she didn’t like Justin, she’d probably still say “I like you too.” So leaving nothing to chance, he said “I want to just be clear, do you like me? Or do you like me like me?” – which of course she said, “I like you, like you” and after that, the rest fell into place.
She’d already begun to notice his calm presence, the way he quietly supported the people around him. She remembers one moment in particular: she had planned a “casual” excuse to ask Justin to help her set up bunks in one of the cabins, just to get a little one-on-one time. But before she could even ask, he walkied her to say he’d already done it. No fanfare. Just action. Just kindness.
Over the years, Molly and Justin’s connection grew deeper, built not just on romance, but on shared leadership, laughter, and a love of the Coleman community. They saw each other at their silliest, most tired, and most creative—a true glimpse into what a lifelong partnership could be.
Coleman became more than the place they met—it became part of their family’s foundation. They got engaged at camp. Married at camp. And one summer, they returned with Molly pregnant with their first son, Jonah, who now has a perfectly timed camp birthday: July 24.
Even when life took them away from camp physically, the Coleman community stayed close. When they had to evacuate during a hurricane, they stayed with former staff members—now best friends—sharing Shabbat dinner like it was the most natural thing in the world. Their kids, Jonah and Max, are growing up surrounded by the same love, traditions, and friendships that shaped them.
Today, Justin serves as Camp Coleman’s Assistant Director, and Molly—who works remotely from camp during the summer—is still lighting up camp with the same smile and warmth that first caught Justin’s heart. He fell in love with her joy, her laugh, her ability to bring light into any room, and the way she makes everyone around her feel seen and valued. Her energy balances his calm, and together they’ve built a partnership grounded in mutual respect and genuine love.
Their story started with a Facebook message, grew through late-night rounds and bunk bed setups, and keeps unfolding under the Coleman canopy. Camp is their past, present, and future—and there’s no place they’d rather be.
