The Bonim unit dove headfirst into their first week at camp with enthusiastic energy and wide-eyed curiosity. From day one, these youngest campers showed up ready to try new things, make new friends, and soak up every ounce of summer magic. This week was full of incredible milestones, like conquering the nerves of sleeping away from home for the first time and enjoying the Machon carnival complete with facepaint and cookie decorating on Yom Kehillah. The bonds formed across the cabins have been instant, sparking close friendships that look like they’ve lasted for years.
A standout milestone of the week was when our campers officially met their Chalutzim Buddies! Since Bonim is our youngest unit and Chalutzim is our oldest, this pairing is always pure magic. To celebrate their new bond, the buddies enjoyed an epic, high-energy pool party and in-water Havdallah service together. It was wonderful to see our oldest campers splashing, laughing, and building connections with their new Bonim buddies. This program brings the whole community together, creating a unique mentorship between the Chalutzim campers who help introduce the Bonim campers to our community.
In between their buddy adventures, Bonim spent the week conquering camp’s coolest outdoor activities. Campers showed immense bravery by flying high and swinging on the trapeze, eliciting massive cheers from their bunkmates who were watching. Back on solid ground, they spent peaceful afternoons playing with the goats, who loved all the attention and cuddles. Of course, no hot summer day is complete without water—blobing and splashing around the lake were absolute highlights, keeping everyone cool and smiling all week long. When the sun went down, the excitement only ramped up! Bonim has been absolutely loving their evening programs, especially our hit mystery game, “Who Stole the Snack?” In a thrilling, Clue-style live challenge, the entire unit turned into junior detectives. Campers had to split up, hunt for clues, and interview a wacky lineup of staff “suspects” to crack the case and discover exactly who took the unit treats. Their investigative skills were unmatched, and the snacks were safely recovered!
From soaring through the air to solving camp mysteries, our session is off to a truly spectacular start. We cannot wait to see what next week brings as these campers continue to grow, explore, and create lifelong memories together!
