The Chalutzim unit has officially kicked off Summer 2026 in unforgettable fashion! As Camp Coleman’s oldest campers, Chalutzim spent their first week embracing leadership opportunities, creating meaningful connections, and making memories that will last long after summer ends.
One of the biggest highlights of the week was being the very first unit to experience our brand-new evening program, Organized Mass Chaos (OMC). This exciting twist on a camp favorite brought plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and, of course, lots of mess! Campers dove headfirst into the action and loved being the first group to test out this brand-new Coleman tradition. They proudly embraced the chaos and set the standard for all the units that will follow.
This week also included moments of reflection and growth. Campers took time to write letters to their future selves that they’ll open at the end of the summer. It was a meaningful opportunity to capture their goals, hopes, and excitement as they begin their final camper summer at Camp Coleman.
One of the most special traditions of the week was the launch of our Chalutzim and Bonim Buddy Program. As the oldest and youngest campers at camp, these two units share a unique bond that helps strengthen our entire community. Through buddy mixers and a pool party together, campers quickly formed connections filled with laughter, mentorship, and plenty of smiles. Watching our Chalutzim campers step into leadership roles while building friendships with their Bonim buddies was truly inspiring. The fun continued with one of the unit’s favorite traditions: Dancing with the Staff! Each cabin worked together to choreograph a dance dedicated to their counselors and unit staff. The creativity, energy, and enthusiasm on display were incredible, and campers loved celebrating the special relationships they have already built with their staff team.
As if the week wasn’t exciting enough, Chalutzim has now embarked on their highly anticipated unit trip! Their adventure began in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where they explored the breathtaking beauty of Ruby Falls, one of the country’s most famous underground waterfalls. The group also spent time giving back through a volunteer project at Reflection Riding, where campers helped clean boats and pull weeds while caring for the environment and supporting the local community. Their willingness to serve reflects the leadership and responsibility that make Chalutzim such a special unit. To cap off an incredible day, campers boarded a riverboat cruise and enjoyed stunning views, great company, and plenty of fun together as they continued making memories on their journey.
From leadership opportunities and new traditions to service projects and exciting adventures, Chalutzim’s first week has been filled with everything that makes Camp Coleman so special. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store for this amazing group of campers!
