A week and a half into the summer, the Kochavim unit has fully settled into camp life and embraced everything that makes Camp Coleman so special. From forming new friendships and strengthening old ones to jumping into activities across camp, Kochavimers have spent the past ten days creating memories, building confidence, and making the most of every moment.

One of the most exciting parts of the week has been watching the Kochavimers grow closer with each passing day. Whether they’re sharing meals, cheering each other on during activities, or laughing together during evening programs, strong friendships are already forming throughout the unit. The sense of community in Kochavim continues to grow as campers support one another, try new things together, and embrace every opportunity camp has to offer.

This week was packed with unforgettable programs. Two camper favorites were the larger-than-life Life-Size Board Game and the out-of-this-world Jews on Mars program, both of which brought plenty of excitement, creativity, and laughter to the unit. Even when severe weather changed plans, the fun didn’t stop. Campers turned an unexpected indoor afternoon into a celebration by participating in energetic Israeli dancing, filling the space with music, movement, and smiles.

Kochavimers, along with campers across camp, have also enjoyed one of Camp Coleman’s most unique programs: Tefillahpalooza. During this special experience, each bunk had the opportunity to choose a theme they wanted to explore together during their prayer service. Campers selected from a variety of creative options, including yoga, drawing, frisbee, and music-themed services, allowing them to connect with Jewish prayer in ways that felt meaningful, engaging, and uniquely their own. It was wonderful to see campers exploring spirituality through activities they love while sharing the experience alongside their bunkmates and friends.

Another highlight of the week was Mandatory Optionals on Saturday, when campers had the freedom to choose their own activities and spend time doing what they love most. Unit Head Sophie loved seeing so many Kochavimers taking advantage of the opportunity to explore camp. Many campers could be found in the Art Room, expressing their creativity through a variety of projects and crafts, while others headed to the lake for an afternoon of adventure. From flying down the zip line to launching off the blob and splashing with friends on the waterfront, Kochavimers fully embraced the fun and freedom that Mandatory Optionals brings.

As we move further into the session, the Kochavim community continues to grow stronger every day. With friendships blossoming, confidence building, and new adventures waiting around every corner, this incredible group of campers is making the most of their summer at Camp Coleman. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the session has in store for our amazing Kochavimers!
