At Camp Coleman, we believe that Jewish camp is about more than creating unforgettable summers—it is about preparing young people to thrive as confident, compassionate, and proud members of the Jewish community long after camp ends.

This summer, our campers had the opportunity to participate in an interactive educational program led by TribeTalk, an organization dedicated to empowering Jewish youth with the knowledge and confidence to recognize and respond to antisemitism.

The workshop created a safe, age-appropriate space for campers to ask questions, share experiences, and engage in meaningful conversations about challenges they may encounter in school, on college campuses, online, and throughout their lives. Through real-world examples and guided discussions, campers gained a deeper understanding of what antisemitism is, how it has evolved over time, and the many ways it can appear in today’s world. Most importantly, they learned practical strategies for responding thoughtfully, confidently, and with pride in their Jewish identity.

While these conversations can be challenging, TribeTalk’s approach focuses on education, resilience, and empowerment rather than fear. Campers left the program knowing they are not alone. They discovered that they have a strong Jewish community behind them, trusted adults to turn to, and practical tools they can use to navigate difficult situations with confidence.

At Camp Coleman, we intentionally seek out programs that enrich our campers’ experiences and prepare them for success both at camp and beyond. Alongside the friendships, adventures, songs, and traditions that make camp so special, we are committed to helping our campers grow into thoughtful leaders who feel deeply connected to their Jewish identity and prepared to engage with the world around them. Opportunities like TribeTalk provide valuable lessons in leadership, communication, and Jewish values that extend far beyond the summer, equipping our campers with skills and confidence they will carry with them for years to come. We’re proud to offer experiences that help every camper grow into a compassionate, confident leader.

(I would replace this paragraph with the one above – it is more focused on the effort camps puts in to bringing these program to our campers as opposed to being grateful TribeTalk comes to us. We sought them out for the benefit of our campers) We are incredibly grateful to TribeTalk for bringing this impactful program to Camp Coleman and for investing in the next generation of Jewish leaders. Partnerships like this allow us to provide experiences that extend far beyond the summer, equipping campers with lessons and skills they will carry with them for years to come.

As we continue to strengthen opportunities like these, support from our community makes a meaningful difference. Investments in educational programming help ensure that every Camp Coleman camper has access to experiences that foster confidence, resilience, and a lifelong connection to Jewish life.

We are committed to bringing meaningful educational opportunities like TribeTalk to our campers because we believe these experiences are just as valuable as the memories they make each summer. Support from our community helps make these programs possible, ensuring that every camper has the opportunity to build confidence, develop resilience, and strengthen their lifelong connection to Jewish life.

If you are inspired by the impact of programs like TribeTalk and would like to help make these meaningful educational experiences possible for future campers, we invite you to connect with Jennifer Siegal-Miller, Director of Development, at JSiegal-Miller@urj.org. Together, we can continue investing in the next generation of confident, resilient, and proud Jewish leaders.
