As the oldest campers at Camp Coleman, Chalutzim has embraced every single moment of their final summer as campers with full hearts, endless enthusiasm, and incredible spirit. Knowing this is their last chance to experience camp from the camper perspective, they have truly lived every day to the fullest—soaking up every tradition, every friendship, every laugh, and every unforgettable Coleman moment.
Wherever you go around camp, you know when Chalutzim has arrived. Their ruach is unmatched, their energy is contagious, and their pride in being Chalutzimers is impossible to miss. Whether they’re chanting the Chalutzim cheer over and over again in the chadar, leading dances during Israeli dancing at song session, or bringing excitement to every camp-wide event, this unit has helped set the tone for the entire community. As the oldest campers, they have embraced their role as leaders, showing the younger units what it means to love Camp Coleman with your whole heart.
One of the most special things about this unit is the bond they share with one another. While many bunks naturally sit together at meals, Chalutzim is different. You’ll find campers from every cabin mixed together around the tables, laughing, talking, and making room for one another. Their friendships extend far beyond their bunks, creating one united community that is truly inspiring to watch. Whether they’re gathered on the swings during Chofesh, sitting in a circle on the beach by the lake playing games and talking for hours, or simply walking around camp together, it’s clear that their favorite part of camp is being with each other.
Throughout the session, Chalutzim has embraced every opportunity camp has to offer, making the most of every elective during their final summer. In Omanut, campers have poured their creativity into mosaics, handcrafted mugs, memory boxes, and meaningful jewelry in metals—pieces they’ll take home as lasting reminders of the summers that helped shape them. Friday Night Live has also been a highlight, with two Chalutzimers selected each week to serve as the anchors for the entire show. On Friday evenings, the rest of the unit can always be found front and center in the Harris Center, laughing, cheering, and proudly supporting their friends as the whole camp enjoys another unforgettable episode together.
The adventures certainly didn’t stop there. Chalutzim embraced an incredible lineup of evening programs, from the excitement of the Medieval (K)night program to dancing together at the Silent Disco, making a splash at the pool party, and rocking out during Coleman Rocks as the Chalutzim band took the stage. Every evening brought another opportunity to laugh together, make memories, and celebrate this special summer as a unit.
Last Friday, Chalutzim experienced something they had been looking forward to—and dreading—all summer: their very last Shabbat as campers. It was a beautiful and emotional weekend filled with gratitude, reflection, and celebration. Walking hand in hand during the Shabbat Walk, dancing front and center during Song Session, and embracing every tradition one final time, the Chalutzimers gave their final camper Shabbat everything they had. It was a weekend filled with joy, pride, and appreciation for the place that has meant so much to each of them.
As the final days of the session approached, Chalutzim continued to soak in every last moment. From leading their Chalutzim service to receiving their Chalutzim hoodies, from cheering louder than ever in the chadar to simply spending time together as a unit, they approached every experience knowing it was their last as campers. They made every moment count.
While this chapter is coming to a close, the impact these campers have had on Camp Coleman will last far beyond this summer. They have led with kindness, welcomed younger campers, filled camp with laughter and ruach, and reminded all of us what makes this community so special. Though this may be the end of their camper journey, it is far from the end of their Coleman story.
To our incredible Chalutzimers—thank you for your leadership, your heart, your friendships, and the unforgettable spirit you brought to camp each and every day. Watching you grow into the remarkable young adults you are today has been a privilege. Camp Coleman will always be your home, and your place in this community will always remain. Once a camper, always a part of the Coleman family!
