This Thankful Thursday, Camp Coleman is filled with gratitude for our incredible Nefesh Team — the dedicated professionals who spend their summers caring for the hearts, minds, and souls of our campers and staff.

Nefesh is the Hebrew word for soul, and it is the perfect name for the work this awesome team does. Throughout the summer, they are there when a camper needs someone to talk to about homesickness, when a young person is navigating a difficult or emotional situation, or when a staff member needs guidance in helping a camper through a challenging moment. They listen, support, guide, reassure, and—perhaps most importantly—remind our campers and staff that they are never alone. (They even do a little carpentry and built a Nefesh Help Desk!)

At Camp Coleman, we believe that wellbeing means caring for the whole person. It encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and our Nefesh Team helps make that holistic approach possible. Their presence gives our campers and staff a safe place to process their feelings, build resilience, navigate challenges, and find the support they need to fully experience all that Coleman has to offer.

The work they do isn’t always visible to everyone. It happens in quiet conversations, thoughtful check-ins, moments of reassurance, and the simple act of being there when someone needs a caring person by their side. But the impact of those moments can last a lifetime.

To our Nefesh Team: thank you for the compassion, wisdom, patience, and love you bring to Camp Coleman. Thank you for caring for the nefesh of our community and for helping our campers and staff feel supported, understood, and ready to thrive.

We are so grateful that you are part of our Coleman family. We could not create the magic of camp without you!
