Want to know what Kochavim have been up to during their Masheshu and evening programs? Well you’re in the right place!

The campers have been at camp for almost a week now, and boy have they been having a blast.

Kochavim’s unit theme is K’lal Yisrael (the people of Israel), which means the programs are based around inclusion, what makes each person special, and how everyone has their own unique way of participating for the team. A particular evening program Kochavim did was ‘Kochavim spark’. Everyone’s special, and we all need everyone unique qualities to make the bigger picture and build towards a stronger and more inclusive Jewish community.  ‘Kochavim spark’ required the campers to write on a piece of paper something they love about themselves, and among some super funny ones, their were also some really inspiring quotes from the campers. With sparks like ” I love that I’m myself”, ”I love that I’m special in my own way”, and ”I love that I’m a girl and I love sport”, it shows that Kochavim campers may be one of the younger groups at camp, but they still have a lot of wisdom they can share with us all.

During Mashahu, Kochavim participated in Coleman 101. For campers that have been at Coleman before, it gave them a chance to share what they enjoyed most about camp. For new and returning campers alike, it was a time to refresh their memories on the words and hand actions that accompany Birkat Hamazon (the blessing at the end of each meal), because Coleman campers bring the energy with them wherever they go and its always nice to be prepared and ready to join in! They also went over songs and cheers for their unit, and learned new Hebrew words as an introduction for any new campers.
