We are very pleased to announce the selection of Lindsey Davis as incoming Camp Coleman Assistant Director. Lindsey will be graduating in May with a degree in Family and Child Sciences from Florida State University. Lindsey is no stranger to Coleman-she attended 9 summers as a camper, traveled with Coleman to Israel, and also participated in our Machon program. Following that, she joined our staff as counselor, programmer, and last summer as director of Staff Engagement. 2019 will be her 5th year on staff at which time she will receive the notable Coleman fleece jacket that is given in appreciation of those staff who reach that critical milestone. Throughout my 28 years as Director, Lindsey is the first who grew up at Coleman to be hired as Assistant Director. All of us at Coleman are thrilled that she will be joining our team.
Here is a note from Lindsey:
Over the course of the last four years, I had come to the conclusion that I wanted my career to be in camping. I didn’t know how, but I knew that it was my goal. I now have the opportunity to fulfill that dream of working in the camping world by becoming an Assistant Director. Not only did my dream come true, but there was no better place for me to begin my journey than at URJ Camp Coleman, where I was a camper for 11 years and on staff for the past 4 years. During this time I have learned a tremendous amount through wide variety of training opportunities offered by Camp Coleman as well as “ hands on” experience. As the Assistant Director, I will have many different responsibilities, and I am completely committed to making camp the best that it can be. Being Camp Coleman’s Assistant Director is truly the chance of a lifetime, and I am so excited to begin this new chapter of my life in the place I love the most with the people I love the most.
We are excited to announce the selection of Walterina Seals as our new Bookkeeper. Born in Honduras, she found her way to the United States, learned English, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 2010. She comes to Camp Coleman after a successful career in the private sector working as a controller and accountant for 2 small businesses. When she saw the ad for our position, she was immediately interested based on the mission of the camp and the idea of working in the nonprofit world. With a genuine warmth and wonderful sense of humor, we are so glad she has joined our team.
Here is a note from Walterina:
I want to take the opportunity to introduce myself and to express my feelings of happiness and gratitude for the wonderful opportunity that I have been given to join the incredible team at Camp Coleman. I was born in Honduras and moved to the United States, eventually becoming a US citizen in 2000- one of the best days of my life. I received my BA in Accounting, graduated with honors from Kennesaw State University, and I have over 20 years’ experience as a Finance Accountant and Finance Controller. One of my greatest accomplishments is my wonderful family. My husband and I are proud of our 3 children and 6 grandchildren. As far as hobbies, I really enjoy taking my grandbabies to the park, listening to music (80’s music is my favorite), and traveling.
