Nachshonim is the transitional unit between younger and older camp, marking an especially important time in campers’ experiences. Named after Nahshon, the tribal leader of the wandering Israelites, Nachshonimers are leaders and role models in the Coleman community. Throughout the session, we have emphasized putting others before ourselves, such as during Nikayon when campers volunteered to take responsibility for others’ cleaning jobs.
Creativity is fostered in our weekly Friday Night Live, where campers come up with fun and wacky skits to share with all of camp on Shabbat. Nachshonim wanders camp under the watchful eyes of every other unit and consistently demonstrates the strong community we can create, even in times of uncertainty. This age group experiences many changes in mind, body, and soul, yet each camper is contributing their best to an overall amazing session here at Coleman.
