Camp Coleman’s 2025 summer began with energy, laughter, and a whole lot of duffels. As early as sunrise, our team was already in motion, sending mini-vans to the airport, prepping buses, and getting ready for the joyful chaos of Opening Day.

Campers who flew arrived on chaperoned flights and were met by staff at the airport before boarding buses to camp. Families who drove in checked in at White County Middle School (WCMS), where staff welcomed them and helped campers board the final stretch of the journey to Coleman.

As each bus pulled in, unit heads and counselors were there to greet campers with cheers, high-fives, and huge smiles. From helping unpack to showing them around camp, staff were focused on making each camper feel seen, welcomed, and excited to dive into the summer.

In the late afternoon, the entire camp came together for one of our most meaningful traditions: the Torah Pass. The Torah was carried from unit to unit as we celebrated the value of L’dor Vador, passing tradition from generation to generation and officially opening our summer together.

As campers filed into the chadar ochel (dining hall) for dinner, the excitement was palpable. This was our first meal together as a full camp, and the room buzzed with energy and anticipation. Tables filled with new friends and familiar faces, and the sound of clapping and laughter quickly gave way to our first blessings of the summer. The motzi was sung loud and proud, followed by cheers echoing off the walls as each unit tried to outdo the others. It wasn’t just a meal. It was a celebration of being together, of the start of something special, and of the Coleman spirit already in full swing.

Evening mixers gave each unit time to play games, meet new bunkmates, and start building the community that makes Camp Coleman so special.

Opening Day is complete and the summer is off to a beautiful start. The duffels are unpacked, the songs have begun, and our campers are already finding their place in the Coleman family.

We are so excited to welcome our first session campers home.
