This week’s sports program was exciting and engaging! Led by Robyn Nolan, our amazing sports specialist, the area came alive with energy, movement, and nonstop action. Robyn designed dynamic programs that combined skill drills, fun activities, and games to keep everyone involved and active. Sessions were focused, energetic, and built up to scrimmages and matches. The campers rose to the challenge.
Campers worked on their skills in various sports, including soccer (or football, as our spectacular specialist calls it), tennis and pickleball, fitness, basketball, and hockey or roller hockey. The soccer program included kicking and passing drills, and we saw improvement in just a few sessions. In tennis, campers started learning about both tennis and pickleball and played games like King of the Court. Some discovered that pickleball is actually pretty fun and not just for their parents.
Fitness was packed with obstacle courses that promoted cardiovascular health and, of course, fun. Basketball Knock Out quickly became a favorite, with tons of campers shooting around and playing pickup games in the Brody. On the rink, some kids learned how to rollerblade while others jumped into more competitive hockey scrimmages.
A standout moment came when a new camper learned about being strong and powerful while playing frisbee. After a particularly strong throw, she was absolutely beaming with pride. That kind of moment is what makes Sports special.
In Sports, we give out special “Beast Mode” stickers for sportsmanship, teamwork, and effort. Many kids earned them this week and proudly showed them off to their counselors and friends.
Sports is THE BEST activity at camp (in our opinion) because it’s all about fun, movement, and trying something new. We cannot wait to watch everyone enhance their abilities, learn new skills, and keep moving and smiling.
