Vibe Check: Excited and Connected
Nachshonim came into this week ready. After a long time apart, the energy was electric. Campers were running to hug old friends, laughing like no time had passed, and jumping right back into the rhythm of camp life.
One of our favorite moments? Siyum. Sitting together and singing Hashkiveinu as one unit for the first time this summer was something special. There’s just something about that moment — the harmony, the stillness, the togetherness — that reminds us we’re part of something bigger.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Nachshonim without a little fun. Brandon from 3A brought a chicken costume (not a typo). It’s been making surprise appearances all week. From electives to meals, the chicken has become a beloved honorary camper.
Speaking of electives, big changes are here. Nachshonim campers now head straight to their activities from wherever they are, no pre-meetups needed. It’s a big step, and they’ve handled it like pros. They are officially among the “big kids” of camp, and they are owning it.
We’ve also seen some beautiful moments of kindness at meals. Campers are checking in on each other, making sure everyone has what they need, and slowing down so no one feels rushed. It’s not always like that, even in the oldest units, but Nachshonim is setting the bar high.
Here’s to more chicken sightings, sweet moments, and the kind of connection that only grows stronger.
