If you’re looking for the unit that kicked off summer at full volume, look no further than Chalutzim. This group showed up excited, energetic, and ready to make their mark.
One of the most talked-about moments of the week? Bonim Buddies. From the second our campers arrived, they were buzzing about when they’d get to meet their Bonim match. Why? Because they remember. They remember how it felt to be the little ones paired with big kids who made them feel seen, safe, and cool. Now it’s their turn to give back—and they’re doing it with ruach. The whole unit teamed up with Bonim for Wacky Olympics and had an absolute blast.
Another unforgettable moment: Super Sloppy Night. Let’s just say the name doesn’t do it justice. There was paint. There was shaving cream. There were shirts that could only be described as chaotic masterpieces. Chalutzim dove into the mess with full commitment and brought the fun in a way only the oldest unit can. Legends were made. Laundry was required.
Chalutzim also got a taste of new privileges this week. During Sport/Swim, they got to choose between activities, and the sense of independence was real. Some hit the courts for basketball and tennis (fan favorites), others dove into the chilly lake for a refreshing swim, and a few diehards made sure Gaga didn’t go unnoticed.
And the magic of Bonim Buddies didn’t end with the Olympics. The next morning, Bonim campers came by the Chalutzim tables at breakfast just to say hi and talk about how much fun they had. If that’s not the start of something special, we don’t know what is.
Here’s to more messy nights, meaningful moments, and the kind of leadership that only Chalutzim can bring.
