Each week at Camp Coleman, we witness everyday moments that show what our core values look like in action. Kehillah (community), Kavod (respect), Chesed (kindness), and Shalom (peace) aren’t just printed on a wall. They’re practiced — in big ways and small — by campers and staff who show up, step up, and quietly make things better for everyone around them.

Here are some of this week’s standout moments:

Camper Highlights

  • Tollan (Chalutzim) stayed calm and open-minded when roomed away from friends on the trip, becoming a peaceful leader and a role model.

  • Jacob (Chalutzim) supported a Bonim camper during mandops and offered help to counselors without being asked.

  • Isaac (Chalutzim) gave away a baseball he caught to another camper who was meant to receive it.

  • Caitlin (Chalutzim) offered water and a fan to others during services, even to campers she isn’t close with.

  • Micah (Chalutzim) stayed behind to clean up trash after the trip without being asked.

  • Henry, Ellie, AJ, Lizzie, Hannah, and Charlie (Kochavim) chose to clean and organize spaces around the dining hall before dinner — completely on their own initiative.

  • Ainsley (Bonim) cleaned and reorganized during pass and stack time and uplifted her bunk with her infectious energy and sense of togetherness.

  • Lilah, Sylvie, and Evan (Chalutzim): Lilah noticed when others needed help and spoke up. Sylvie supported a cabinmate with a sprained ankle all day. Evan radiated positivity and inspired peers to appreciate her deeply.

  • Hadley (Solelim) showed selflessness and maturity by recommending a friend for a lead role she herself had wanted.

  • Gabriel (Machon) brought leadership and enthusiasm to Tefillah Palooza, setting an example for younger campers.

  • Noah (Solelim) brought helpfulness and fun to the bunk — from clean-up to card games.

  • Hannah (Tsofim) supported peers going through tough moments with quiet kindness.

  • Avery (Kochavim) consistently volunteers for nikayon and treats others with patience and care.

  • Lauren (Kochavim) lifts up her friends and models good behavior and inclusion at every turn.

  • Nate (Kesher) showed respect and initiative in Jewish Cooking, cleaning without being asked and leading by example.

  • Tsofim Jewish Cooking Group brought teamwork and joy into the kitchen — working collaboratively and communicating with care and enthusiasm.

Staff Spotlights

  • Nimo Toronto (Sports) was recognized for his deep investment in camper growth and his care for the hockey space. He teaches life lessons through sports and leads with positivity and quiet strength. He models Kavod, Chesed, Shalom, and Kehillah with every skated step.

  • Emily Robertshaw (Tsofim) stepped up during her unit head’s day off to ensure all logistics ran smoothly. From making sign-ups happen to covering rotations, Emily showed what Kehillah looks like in action.

  • Abi Streger (Bonim) doesn’t look for credit — but she deserves it. Always tuned in to her campers’ needs, always checking on her co and her team, Abi leads with humility, heart, and consistent excellence.

It’s the small choices — to give, to notice, to include — that build the strongest communities. This week, these campers and staff proved that our values aren’t just ideals. They’re lived experiences.
