At Camp Coleman, health and wellness aren’t confined to the Health Center—they’re part of our daily rhythm, embedded into routines all across camp. From hydration and hygiene to sleep and sun safety, we believe that prevention and care go hand-in-hand. Here’s how we help keep our community healthy from sunup to sundown.

Handwashing Made Easy
Clean hands are non-negotiable. That’s why we’ve placed handwashing stations just outside the Chadar Ochel, so every camper and staff member can wash up before meals. It’s a simple step that makes a big difference.

Sanitizing in All the Right Places
Our housekeeping team works diligently to sanitize high-touch surfaces like light switches, door knobs, and other common contact points regularly. At the pool, campers can sanitize their water bottles on designated bottle washing days because staying hydrated shouldn’t mean sharing germs.

Hydration on the Go
On especially hot days, enter the Water Taxi: a golf cart outfitted with coolers, making hydration stops all over camp. Cold water is always within reach, and we encourage every camper to carry a water bottle throughout the day. From the LAF (Lower Athletic Field) to the ropes course, staying cool and hydrated is a top priority.

Prioritizing Rest
Evening programs are designed to end on time so campers can wind down and get the rest they need. We also schedule occasional late wake-ups to give campers a chance to recharge. Most Fridays and Saturdays include a late wake-up built into the schedule—it’s our way of honoring rest as an essential part of health.

Sunday Funday, Coleman Style
Hot Georgia day? We’ve got that covered. On Sundays, our sports rotations often include water games to keep campers cool and having fun. Sunday Funday is more than fun—it’s a built-in heat management plan.

Wellness Is a Community Effort
Health at Coleman isn’t just handled in one building. It’s a camp-wide priority, supported by thoughtful planning, proactive practices, and a whole lot of teamwork. When campers feel their best, they’re ready to make memories that last a lifetime—and that’s the real goal.
