Camp turned into our very own Jewish Olympics as we welcomed three incredible athletes from the Maccabi Games—Sydney (Team USA Soccer), Nofar (Team Israel Basketball), and Caren (Team USA Karate)—along with their fantastic staff member, Adi. The day kicked off with a spirited opening ceremony where campers and staff waved international flags and learned the history behind the Maccabi Games (and yes, where our MAC got its name!).
Throughout the day, each unit had the chance to participate in sport-specific clinics during their sports periods. Campers got to choose between soccer, basketball, and karate, learning directly from athletes who’ve competed on the international stage. These clinics weren’t just fun—they were empowering, showing our campers how passion, perseverance, and Jewish pride can all play on the same team.
We wrapped up with a closing ceremony where our guests answered questions about their journeys, their training, and what it means to represent their countries and communities. And then—just like every champion deserves—every camper and staff member received a medal to commemorate the day.
