Led by Josh Simon — because being S.A.D. has never looked so sweet.

Before most campers even think about their first activity, the S.A.D. team is already counting. And recounting. And double-checking counts. Every unit, every dietary restriction, every snack — tallied, packed, and prepped like we’re planning a snack-based space mission.

Once the numbers are in and the bins are full, it’s time for Afternoon Snack #1: the dry snack. Crackers, chips, granola bars — you name it, it hits the tables. Afternoon Snack #2, the cold option, rolls out right alongside it. Served in the dining hall, this mid-day snack break gives campers a sweet (or salty) pause in the cool AC.

Evening hits differently. That’s when the S.A.D. team shifts into delivery mode. Snacks are boxed up by unit and sent out across camp, meeting every cabin at their evening program. Like magic. (If magic involved a lot of lifting and precise snack logistics.)

The next morning? We’re back at it — bins emptied, restocked, and ready to roll. And once a session, we roll out the ultimate treat: the back of the golf cart loaded with every snack under the sun. Campers get to choose their favorite, creating a choose-your-own-snackventure moment they won’t forget.

By summer’s end, we’ll have handed out around 75,000 snacks. Not bad for a crew with a sad little acronym and a seriously happy mission.
