As we wrap up another unforgettable summer at Coleman, we’re looking back on one of the areas that’s grown the most over the past decade—our AV program.
Gone are the days of standing on your tiptoes, pointing a remote, hoping the dining hall projector might flicker on. Gone are the days of hauling two giant speakers from building to building whenever sound was needed.
Today, our program spaces are equipped with modern technology that lets us fully showcase the creativity and talent of our campers and staff. The systems are designed to be easy for anyone to use, while also offering campers the chance to explore, experiment, and master new technology.
This summer’s AV highlights included:
- Hillman Chapel – Added monitor speakers (special thanks to Rabbi Adam Miller for his generous donation to make this possible).
- The Brody – Now features a permanent, ceiling-mounted sound system.
- The Harris Center – Continued expansion of capabilities to support a variety of performances and programs.
And for the first time ever, this session’s musical featured a follow spotlight—and our campers weren’t just in the spotlight, they were running it. They designed lighting cues for the musical and dance show, operated the spotlight, and programmed scene transitions with mute/unmute functions.
Watching them step up, problem-solve, and bring the arts to life with technology was inspiring—and a perfect reminder that the skills and memories made at Coleman last far beyond the summer.
