Lauren Davis has been part of Camp Coleman since 2004, when she arrived as a Bonim camper with her twin sister by her side. Even then, she knew this was a place she wanted to be forever. From those early days of song sessions and bunk bonding, camp gave her the foundation — but her transformation didn’t stop there.

Over the years, Lauren has worn many hats at Coleman, each one preparing her for the impact she now makes as a leader. She began as a cabin counselor, building deep connections with campers and co-staff. She later took on the role of Machon programmer, working closely with our Staff-in-Training and guiding them through the transition from camper to staff. For four summers, she served as a unit head, supporting counselors and building a strong team culture. After that, she stepped into the role of Tarbut Coordinator, managing several of our arts-based specialty areas and helping shape creative programming camp-wide. As Unit Director Lauren draws on every one of those experiences while working along side our year-round team to mentor others and ensure the entire camp community thrives.

Today, Lauren serves as an integral staff member on our team. As Unit Director, she supports and supervises our unit heads — the people who guide our counselors, who in turn guide our campers. Her job is a balancing act of mentorship, logistics, coaching, and care. She’s not just supporting young staff. She’s building them into capable leaders, helping them grow the tools they’ll use long after their summers at Coleman.

On any given day, you might find Lauren talking through a tough camper situation, leading a mediated conversation on feedback and communication, or helping a unit head understand how to set a tone for their team. She teaches staff how to model empathy, hold high expectations, and show up fully for their campers and co-counselors. Her work is hands-on, personal, and deeply impactful.

While her journey began in a Bonim cabin, it’s her current work that defines her legacy. Camp Coleman didn’t just shape Lauren Davis — now, she’s helping to shape Camp Coleman.
