Every photo you scroll through, every Friday Night Live skit your camper stars in — it’s all made possible by a media team of just five individuals, led by Media Coordinator Lucinda Traves. Each day, this crew is responsible for teaching and filming Friday Night Live (FNL) with campers and capturing thousands of photos across camp. Over the course of the summer, they take tens of thousands of images — carefully sorting, selecting, and editing them in Lightroom to create daily galleries that give families a genuine look into life at Coleman (no small feat with camp internet!). At the same time, the team dives into the meticulous process of editing FNL — shaping raw footage into a polished, camper-created video that brings the campers’ creative vision to life and is enjoyed by the entire camp each Friday night. It’s a demanding cycle that repeats daily, and it’s pulled off by a small, dedicated crew doing big work behind the scenes.

In addition to their daily responsibilities, this team also collects and organizes the photos and videos that become the backbone of our year-round marketing and storytelling. From social media posts to camp newsletters and updates, much of what you see throughout the year starts with this team’s lens.

Campers from all units have been hard at work brainstorming and developing their weekly FNL skits. Each period brings a new group into the production process — writing, directing, and starring in their own scenes for that week’s episode. Under the guidance of our media team, campers are also learning key film and TV terms, gaining hands-on experience across the entire creative spectrum. This week’s sketches range from an Among Us parody to undercover Chicken Spies, a Rap Battle, and a deep dive into the mysterious “Gumbling” at camp. We’re especially proud of the Chalutzim unit, who have stepped up to make hosting a fun and engaging part of the FNL experience. Across the board, campers are pushing themselves to revise their scripts, workshop their jokes, and strengthen their sketches through collaboration and feedback.

Photography is just as intentional. We make sure to photograph every unit every day, always keeping our focus on capturing the overall spirit of camp. Our goal is to highlight a wide range of moments and activities so families get a real sense of what life at Coleman looks and feels like. And while we aim for a strong mix of moments and faces, our goal isn’t to photograph every individual daily — it’s to reflect the camp experience as a whole, through snapshots of joy, connection, and energy. The team isn’t made of superheroes — just five passionate staff members committed to telling Coleman’s story with care, creativity, and heart. Our photos and Friday Night Live episodes live on, shared and rewatched long after the buses roll out — a lasting reminder of the joy, humor, and community that define a summer at Coleman.
