Chalutzim Program Update 1st Session
The unit visited a number of historic places on the trip including walking across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL where Martin Luther King, Jr. led the march on Bloody Sunday after hearing from speakers who participated in the march.
Kesher Program Update 1st Session
Another Evening Program called ”Shattered Vessels” included a task where groups had 20 minutes to build a house out of a selection of foods they were given, including things like graham crackers, icing, bananas, and a variety of candy.

My Aha Jewish Camping Moment
Mason and I returned from camp that summer and I doubled down on my involvement in The Diamond Family Religious School at Temple Emanu-El, eventually becoming the Principal of the school. After that summer, I knew I wanted to infuse camp-style learning into the religious school setting.
Nachshonim Program Update 1st Session
During Nachshonim’s first Mashehu, the campers participated in a program called “Hero Value Shopping”; campers went around the room and saw various different values written down (e.g. enthusiasm, empathy, and compassion).
Tsofim Program Update 1st Session
This was an empowering program that showed campers they don’t always have to volunteer at an organization to make a difference- they can create their own.
Solelim Program Update 1st Session
The Solelim campers had to think up a creative way to stop their uncooked chicken egg from breaking when dropping it off the Minsky Art Center balcony.
Chana Rothman Returns to Camp Coleman
Chana’s role as an educator is to encourage thoughts and conversations and ways the campers might mobilize any ideas they are passionate about into something real in the future.
